Parish Choir

Our Parish Choir of 20+ includes volunteer singers and four Choral Scholars who are music majors from JMU. We rehearse Wednesday evenings 7-8:30 pm, and sing at the 10:30 am Sunday Eucharist, September through May. If you are interested in singing, we welcome you! Choral Scholars

Our Choral Scholars receive a monthly scholarship for singing with the Parish Choir September through May. The Choral Scholars program is funded through donations, not through the church budget. If you are interested in supporting the Choral Scholars, please donate by writing CHORAL SCHOLARS in the memo line of your check, and thank you.

Bass Benjamin Gofton

Please welcome new Choral Scholar Benjamin Gofton, bass. Benjamin is currently enrolled at James Madison university as a sophomore Vocal Performance and Physics Major. He performs regularly with the JMU Opera Theatre and the A Cappella sensation Exit 245. As a classical bass, he intends to pursue a career as an international opera performer following his masters and doctoral degrees.

Returning for his fourth year wtih us is Josh Fisher, tenor. Look for news of Josh's Senior Composition Recital. Returning for her third year is Erin Dixon, mezzo-soprano. And returning for her second year is Katy Morgan, soprano.

Soprano Kathryn "Katy" Morgan

Katy Morgan is a Vocal Music Education major with a special education minor from Towson, Maryland. Here at JMU Katy has been a member of the University Women’s Choir, the Treble Chamber Choir and the Chorale. Katy is also the music director of JMU’s premier coed show choir, the Madisonians. While here at JMU Katy has performed in the Opera Company’s production of Mikado, the 2017 Opera Spotlight and the 2018 Bach Aria Group. As a member of the Treble Chamber Choir, Katy has served as the soprano 2 section leader for two semesters, and the alto 1 section leader for one semester. She has also placed honors in the Virginia NATS competition in 2017 and 2018, and 3rd place in the Regional NATS competition in 2017. On campus Katy is also a member of JMUs Student Ambassadors and the All Female Professional Music Fraternity, Sigma Alpha Iota. Katy is beyond excited to join Emmanuel as the Soprano Choral Scholar.

Mezzo-Soprano Erin Dixon

Erin Dixon is a Music Education major with minors in Music and Human Services (Music Therapy) and Substance Abuse Education. She is from Mechanicsville, Virginia, and served as an choral scholar at the Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Old Church, Virginia her senior year of high school. She is the Music Director of JMU's premiere all-female a capella group, Note-oriety. Erin is involved in a project that teaches guitar, bass, piano, drums, and electronic instruments to residents of the Gemeinschaft House. Erin also adds playing saxophone with the Marching Royal Dukes to her busy schedule. She is absolutely thrilled to continue her service at Emmanuel Episcopal.

Tenor Josh Fisher

Joshua Fisher is a Junior Music Composition Major at James Madison University, from Woodbridge, Virginia. He has written for string quartet, 8-part SATB, piano, solo voice, and 4-part congregational singing. He also sings with the Madison Singers, and is the Music Director of the Madison Project a cappella. Josh hopes to go on to write soundtrack music for entertainment media, but is ready and willing to explore all the different paths a career in music has to offer.
